Researcher,
Department of Education

Louise’s research interests include children’s literature and education, social inequities and feminist theories, and creative methods/approaches. Louise holds a BA in English Language and Literature, an MA in Gender Studies, and an MRes in Sociology and Research Methods. She completed her PhD in Education at the University of Glasgow, where her research focused on children’s responses to contemporary biographies about women.

Louise has been involved in a number of research projects with children, both in the UK and abroad. Last year she worked with non-profit organisations in Canada to better understand how organisations are encouraging girls to engage with STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths), and acted as a research consultant on an international project exploring children’s experiences of KidTech.

Louise has extensive experience of working in educational settings with adults, children and young people. She has taught in Australia, China and the UK. Prior to beginning her PhD, Louise managed a network of children’s learning centres across London for a number of years. This involved collaborating with local schools to support children with maths and English.
