About the workshop:

There is a lot of hope that using technology in schools can make things fairer for everyone by providing access to educational resources, freeing up teacher time from administration, and personalising learning content to meet the needs of individual students.

The EdTech Equity project has been exploring the relationships between technology and equity in secondary schools across England. Our evidence suggests that the design of EdTech, and the ways EdTech is used in school contexts, should be informed by:

  • a clearer understanding of the realities of classroom settings; and
  • greater transparency of EdTech systems’ underpinning motivations and pedagogies.

In collaboration with the University of Bristol, we invite secondary school teachers from any discipline and representatives from EdTech companies to join an interactive workshop.

This workshop is an opportunity to:

  • think collaboratively about EdTech design and its use in school contexts;
  • articulate hopes and fears for future EdTech use in secondary schools; and
  • serve as expert participants in important University of Oxford research.

Why participate?

Participants in the workshop will be able to:

  • build connections with a diverse group of teachers and designers of EdTech;
  • reflect on their own practice and the ways to design and use EdTech equitably; and
  • make an important contribution to ongoing Oxford University research.

Attendance to the workshop is free. Lunch, refreshments and certificates of participation will be provided, and we are able to cover the costs of parking, local travel and teaching supply cover.
